Sony HDW-F900/3

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

The Sony HDW-F900/3 has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels.

Uses HDCAM tape format.

It offers many of the same features of a 35mm motion picture film camera.

Acquire in hi-def and deliver on any medium. The color tonality of the camera can still capture and deliver your message with notable enhancements than ever before. The high resolution that the camera produces can easily be down converted to any format you wish. This allows you to begin to future proof your material.

  • The Sony Cine Alta HDW-F900/3 camcorder shoots multiple frame rates: 24p, 25p, 30p, 50i, 60i, 23:98p, 29:97, and 59:94.

The camera resolution is always 1080.

  • Either 1080i (interlaced: real time video) or 1080p (progressive: the film look – variances between 24p, 25p, 30p)

The camera image aspect is always 16×9.

  • Again, allowing you to future proof your material.

Using the Sony JH3 HDCAM player can give you a 4×3 aspect image from the 16×9 aspect without any distortion, allowing you to return to the material at a later date and use the 16×9 aspect when it is needed. The JH3 player also has the ability to letterbox for 4×3 aspect.

16x9 4x3
16×9 4X3
  • Because of the multi-frame rate capabilities it has been accepted world wide. For example, 25p and 50i are European standards.
  • It is easier to begin with 1080 resolution and down convert to 720p or 480p than it is to up convert. To up convert can cause some unknown technical issues to arise.
